Scriptures for Labor and Delivery
I give my body to God because of all He has done for me. It will be a living and holy sacrifice - the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him. (Romans 12:1)
I sought the Lord, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears. Psalm 34:4
For God has not given me a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts our fear. (1 John 4:18)
God will not forget the expectant mothers and women about to give birth. A great company will return! Tears of joy will stream down my face, and He will lead me home with great care. I will walk beside quiet streams and not stumble. (Jeremiah 31:8-9)
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty (whose power no foe can withstand). I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge, and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely and in Him I (confidently) trust! (Psalm 91:1-2)
Below is combination of scriptures I like to read to moms when they are in active labor or transition. They are taken from Isaiah 40 and 41:
Do not be afraid. Your God is coming! Yes, the Sovereign Lord is coming in all His glorious power. He will rule with awesome strength. See, He brings His reward with Him as He comes. He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will carry the lambs in His arms, holding them close to His heart. He will gently lead the mother sheep with their young. (40:9-11)
Look up to the heavens. Who created all the stars? He brings them out one after another, calling each by its name. And He counts them to tree that none are lost or have strayed away. How can you say the Lord does not see your troubles? How can you say God refuses to hear your case? Have you never heard or understood? Don't you know that the Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth?
He never grows faint or weary. No one can measurer the depths of His understanding. He gives power to those who are tired and worn out; He offers strength to the weak. Even youths will become exhausted, and young men will give up. But those who wait on the Lord will find new strength. They will fly high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. (40:26-31)
"But as for you My servant, My chosen one...I have called you back from the ends of the earth so you can serve me. For I have chosen you and will not throw you away. Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with My victorious right hand.
I am holding you by your right hand---I, the Lord your God. And I say to you, 'Do not be afraid. I am here to help you...And the joy of the Lord will fill you to overflowing. You will glory in the Holy One of Israel.
When the poor and needy search for water and there is none, and their tongues are parched from thirst, then I the Lord, will answer them. I, the God of Israel, will never forsake them. I will open up rivers for them on high plateaus. I will give them fountains of water in the valleys. In the deserts they will find pools of water. Rivers fed by springs will flow across the dry, parched ground. I will plan trees on barren land. Everyone will see this miracle and understand that it is the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, who did it. (41:8-20)
